Our second production of the Youth and Children's Department drama and themed craft event for school and youth groups, "Follow the Star", will run from 2nd to 6th December 2019.
At a recent meeting of members of 3 churches in the Bangor West area there was a celebration of the past year of the ‘Street by Street’ prayer project. The 3 churches taking part are West Church, Carnalea Methodist and St Gall’s.
During the year a team of 4 people from all 3 churches have been going out knocking on doors in designated streets on alternate Tuesday evenings and asking for prayer requests from the residents. The team then promise to pray for those needs for a fortnight, before moving on to another few streets.
The day after Storm Ophelia hit Ireland Marie and myself decided to take a day out to Newcastle. On the way down we stopped at Castlewellan to take a walk around the castle grounds. When we arrived there the main gate was closed with a notice on it that the castle grounds were closed due to storm damage. Not to be put off we parked the car in the town and walked into the grounds through a side entrance. Sure enough, there had been a lot of damage done by the storm with fences down, branches off trees and quite a number of trees had been blown down. I did notice however that the trees which had fallen did not have extensive roots. This reminded me in our Christian life Paul told the Colossians in ch 2 vs 7 – “be rooted and built up in Him (Jesus), be established in faith, and overflow with thanksgiving just as you were taught”.
